Wednesdays – 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. ET
On July 1, 2020, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This trilateral free trade agreement will affect many facets of the North American economy. Please join us weekly for our four-part virtual roundtable series as we help you navigate the USMCA provisions affecting companies and understand the rights and obligations of the member countries. Our discussions will include counsel from law firms in the United States, Mexico and Canada and representatives from companies addressing these issues firsthand.
Session 4 – Supply Chains: Issue-Spotting, Tips and Best Practices for Maximizing USMCA Benefits
During this session, our panel will discuss how companies are evaluating and changing their supply chains in response to the shift from NAFTA to the USMCA. This includes diversifying and altering supply chains to maximize USMCA benefits or even giving up temporarily on free trade agreement eligibility in favor of lower-cost suppliers. We will discuss issues of timing and accuracy in working with suppliers to confirm the USMCA eligibility of their products. In addition, we will discuss tips and best practices for using weighted averages, reconciliation and other tools to maximize USMCA eligibility.
