Examples of Rajin’s experience include:
- Defended Crystal IS, a manufacturer of ultraviolet LED semiconductors, in a patent infringement dispute. Successfully moved for early-stage summary judgment on non-infringement, leading to a confidential settlement.
- Served as trial counsel for defendants Erie Custom Computer Applications, Inc. and Payroll World, Inc. in a high-stakes software licensing dispute involving claims of copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and contract breaches. Achieved a complete defense verdict after a seven-day jury trial, resulting in dismissal of all claims.
- Represented Xylem Dewatering Solutions in litigation and arbitration involving alleged trade secret misappropriation and breaches of contract related to remote monitoring control systems. Secured a reversal of the district court’s injunction against arbitration in the Third Circuit, leading to a confidential settlement.
- Represented Trane in a trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract case. Won summary judgment and liquidated damages, while defeating all counterclaims. The case settled just before jury selection on remaining claims.
- Represented patent holder Greenthread in a multi-patent infringement suit involving semiconductor technologies, including DRAM, NAND flash, and image sensors. Secured a favorable settlement during expert discovery, approximately 14 months after filing.
- Represented patent holder Wapp Tech in separate patent infringement cases in the Eastern District of Texas involving mobile application development and testing technologies. Both matters reached a successful resolution on confidential terms before trial.
- Represented a direct marketing services provider in a trade secret misappropriation and contract dispute against former executives and their new employer. The case resolved confidentially following cross-motions for summary judgment.
- Confidential Commercial Dispute: Secured a seven-figure recovery for a claimant in a pre-suit mediation involving allegations of fraud, misrepresentation, and contract breaches.
Pro Bono Matters
- Successfully represented a Cameroonian woman seeking asylum based on severe abuse suffered due to her political activity in support of the Anglophone minority in Cameroon. Won asylum following an evidentiary hearing.
- Advocated for a transgender woman denied necessary medical care while incarcerated. Obtained a landmark ruling in the Eastern District of Missouri, securing a permanent injunction that required treatment and struck down Missouri’s “freeze-frame” policy as unconstitutional.
- Successfully represented a detained gay South Sudanese man seeking asylum based on persecution of LGBTQIA+ individuals in his home country. Won asylum following an evidentiary hearing.
